adidas Canada Announces Canadian World Cup Tour

June 1, 2006 -

TORONTO, ON - adidas Canada has announced the launch of its four-city +10 World Cup Tour to celebrate soccer with thousands of Canadian fans as an Official Partner of the FIFA 2006 World Cup. Beginning June 9, the adidas +10 World Cup Tour will visit Vancouver, Edmonton, Montréal and Toronto, culminating with a free television broadcast of the World Cup final match in Germany, at the Rogers Centre on July 9.

Fans will be able to test their soccer skills, watch amateur games, attend coaching clinics and battle for soccer supremacy virtually with the X-Box interactive mobile unit on site. Whether it's playing human foosball, diving to head a ball into the net on a inflatable field or displaying one's juggling prowess, these interactive events will be fun for the entire family gearing up for the World Cup.

"Soccer fans are going to be pumped about what we have in store for them on the adidas +10 World Cup Tour," said Jeff Cooper, Director Marketing, Communications, adidas Canada. "From exciting events in Western Canada to being part of Quebec's largest youth soccer tournament in Montréal to capping it off and partnering with Rogers Communications on what's anticipated to be the largest viewing party ever at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, adidas will bring the spirit and excitement of the game alive across the country."

The adidas World Cup program is built on the concept of +10, meaning the individual along with 10 teammates can accomplish anything and the team over the individual star, should be celebrated. As the company's largest FIFA World Cup campaign in history, Canadians can become part of the +10 society at www.adidassoccer.ca. Membership is free and privileges include contests with an array of prizing like World Cup tickets; exclusive words of wisdom and limited edition downloads of the world's best soccer players like David Beckham; a virtual scratch & win for +10 merchandise and new features launched monthly. The site also keeps soccer fans in the know with the latest news about the matches, teams and statistics as well as features virtual soccer clinics, awe-inspiring television commercials, interactive video games that test your soccer skills, and more.
